Fact Monster is a great site to find a lot of useful classroom materials for children. Run by Information Please, Fact Monster has a homework center, time lines, almanac, atlas, dictionary, encyclopedia, and a games/quizzes section. While working on the Roman history section in social studies, our book talked about Roman Numerals. My students were interested and started asking questions about how to read them. I jumped on Fact Monster and found resources, including a quiz that the students could complete during regularly scheduled computer lab time. It was a quick and simple way for them to explore a concept they were interested in without taking away from instructional time.
